Independent Component 1

  • LITERAL
    (a)
  • : “I, NOAH NAKIELSKI, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”
    (b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component
  • Well for the robotics in FTC, our leader was Joey Uken, a Student at Cal Poly Pomona, he came to ipoly in hope to find a team or start one for that matter.
    (c) Provide a digital spreadsheet (aka log of the 30 hours).   Post it next to your mentorship log.
  • done
  • (d) Explanation of what you completed.
  • Ok to start off, From doing this robotics tournament/collaboration project I've gotten a glimpse as to what it is like working in these fields within a team. Its stressful and time consuming, but when you first start off you fail alot and you just keep doing it. The goal from square one was to create a robot. This robot is intended to carry out many functions such as putting blocks into a basket, to the robot being able to self sustain itself when hanging on a bar. In the end my team and I created a robot to do these functions, although it wasn't the best robot it still preformed extraordinarily well for a rookie team. From this experience I learned more about the potential uses of robots not only in the military but also within civilian use based on the functions that these machines can do, like for this instance lifting things, is truly fascinating and I'm glad I was part of this amazing team.
  • INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain how the significant parts of your component and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.

So in this picture is out Cat bot, we call it cat bot cause we put a beware of dog sign, its ironic in a way.
                                                                  Welcome to the team
Carlos showing me the code for the robot motors (tuning)
My nervous face but happy to be participating
Cat bot with its first run in the second tournament
Our second axle design that carlos thought of but never used
Cat bot in action as it scoops up blocks in the corner of the field.

EEMAIL ME FOR THE LINK TO THE WHOLE ALBUM blogger wont let me it says it maxes out space

  • APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.
This helped me out alot, not only with the uses of these remarkable machines, but also making me develop a better understanding how they work and how much time is truly needed to get the right product out there. Carlos was also a big help in this, he talked me into taking java and so far that is helping with the programming. The robot itself is a fun experience that opens up many other doors to new things such as programming, power delivery, designs etc. (i explained some stuff to answer this question within the last bullet point in the literal section)
Grading Criteria
  • Log on a digital spreadsheet
  • Evidence of 30 hours of work
  • LIA submitted to blog
